The Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP) provides food assistance for individuals and families impacted by Hurricane Idalia and who are not receiving food assistance benefits through the regular Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). In partnership with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, D-SNAP is implemented by the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF).

The Family Resource Support Center serves as a central hub for the community to access needed resources and supports. The Department has staff on site, including Hope Navigators, behavioral health partners who specialize in disaster recovery response, and public benefit eligibility specialists to help individuals and families. The Department will continue to work with local organizations and partners across the state to expand the array of resources that are available to help meet the needs of impacted families.

For residents of the following counties

Dixie, Hamilton, Jefferson, Lafayette, Madison, Suwannee, and Taylor.

The period for food assistance for recipients who lost food due to Hurricane Idalia in the above seven counties was extended to September 19, 2023. SNAP Replacement has ended.

On-site D-SNAP Location for Hamilton, Lafayette, and Suwannee Counties Open Sunday, October 15 through Tuesday, October 17

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Today, Department of Children and Families (Department) Secretary Shevaun Harris announced a Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP) location will be open for Hamilton, Lafayette, and Suwannee counties on Sunday, October 15 through Tuesday, October 17 for applicants to complete their in-person interview on-site. D-SNAP provides food assistance for Florida residents impacted by Hurricane Idalia who are not receiving food assistance benefits through the regular Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

Individuals who reside or work in Hamilton, Lafayette, and Suwannee counties who pre-registered online but did not have a chance to complete their D-SNAP phone interview can visit the D-SNAP location for an in-person interview. In-person interviews are not required if a phone interview was completed.  
The Department will reopen pre-registration for individuals who reside or work in these counties and did not previously pre-register online. We encourage individuals to pre-register online before coming on-site to complete their interview. Online pre-registration will be available at www.myflfamilies.com/DSNAP from Sunday, October 15 through Tuesday, October 17.

Hours: 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.

  • Current SNAP recipients are not eligible for D-SNAP and should not attend the on-site D-SNAP location. 
  • Applicants who were approved during the telephone interview for D-SNAP will receive their EBT card by mail and should not attend the on-site D-SNAP location. 
  • Florida residents that do not live or work in Hamilton, Lafayette, or Suwannee counties will not be served at this on-site D-SNAP location. 

The Department will open D-SNAP locations in each county that has been approved for D-SNAP. On-site locations and dates for each county will be announced as they open. D-SNAP is not available at Disaster Recovery Centers or the Department’s Family Resource Support Centers.
